Default What Antivirus do you use?

    I use Avira.
Rarely run a scan with it though, it's mostly there because I wanted to test it in the beginning and never bothered to uninstall it.
I personally think AV give people a false sense of security, because most users select "Allow" or "Ok" to everything, regardless of what it actually is, which pretty much defeats the purpose.

So what do you guys use?

    Avast here
Avira makes it ahrd to share files over lan , slows everything starting from windows ending with games,, dunno why actually but my brother uses it , both of them do .

I go for avast and sometimes no antivirus at all ..

I use Avira Antivir as well. I think it's a great AV software. It's light weight, barely eats away at your memory, and it works as good as any AV programs out there. I've actually had Avira scan and disinfect files neither Norton, Kaspersky, or McAfee could find.

I also agree with you about AV softwares giving people - nontechnically inclined people - a false sense of security. If you're just going to click OK, OK, OK rather than taking the time to read the pop-ups why would you go through the trouble of downloading any AV softwares in the first place?

To medschool: I've never had any issues with Avira. It never once disturbed my share files over the LAN nor lag any of my online gaming. It might be your settings but since you like Avast it's kind of pointless to switch over anyways.

I think this topic was posted somewhere else? I remember answering this question not long ago. Anyway, i use Symantec Endpoint Protection Enterprise, its got an actively scanning AV, spyware and firewall all in one and barely uses resources to operate. Symantec has never let me down (maybe 10 viruses, all caught and deleted/quarantined) in over 4 years. And best of all it doesn't embed itself on your computer! It's easily removable show you choose to upgrade or reinstall.

(Norton is Symantec, Symantec is not Norton)

Yeah I noticed it in the computers section after I made the Poll here :(

But the other one doesn't have a poll, so I guess it's different.

I use Avira Premium and I agree with KV300162205, I answered this question within the last week as well. So far, it looks like Avira wins the poll.

Yeap another Avira user here, el3em said it all, lightweight, hardly uses cpu and great protection, nothing more i can add.

Tried many AV over the years norton 360, avg, webroot, nod32, bitdefender, macafee, and others and so far Avira has me satisfied the most

A good site to check out would be AV-Comparatives - Independent Tests of Anti-Virus Software - Welcome to AV-Comparatives.org
As long as you understand that the tests are NOT real world tests, it's actually quite helpful.
