Thread: What is your movie viewing set-up?

I'm kicking around the idea of upgrading my audio receiver and figured I would find out what other people were using.

My setup:
-65" Panasonic Viera S1 Plasma - delivered last week. Doing break-in right now.
-Home Theatre PC (HTPC): Just my old gaming machine. Using *cringe* svideo out at the moment.
-A pretty old 5.1 Sony Home Theatre in a Box (HTiB)
- PS3
- Wii

Right now I'm planning to feed everything through my PS3 onto the TV. I was using TVersity, but it was a pooch over the wireless so I need to run some ethernet cable this weekend for it. I also plan on trying some other apps than TVersity. It is clunky IMO...



Anyone have an economical set up that they really like? I think I'd rather spend the money for a nice audio system and continue to feed everything through the PS3 rather than upgrade my HTPC.

I've got about $500 to burn this Christmas coming from various sources so I figured I would ask around and see what I can get together. I have a nice TV, but I need a couple more things to make it a better set-up.

I watch everything on my laptop which i plug into my samsung 52" full HD LCD tv. I sometimes, but very rarely watch movies in my room that i burn to disk and play on my 360 connected to my samsung 29" full HD LCD tv.

I'm satisfied with 52" so 65" must be something else :P

It is all about the viewing distance. Big room needs a bigger TV. At least that is what I convinced the wife!

Mostly just my laptop although it's nothing to laugh at. It's only a 16" screen but oh the screen :) 1920x1080 RGBLED with Edge to Edge glass. Like said earlier it's all about the viewing distance. Put in a nice pair of headphones and the 1080p movies look absolutely stunning on it

I must say though I do envy the 65" plasma setup

40" flat screen, big ass speakers and a pioneer receiver. i would love to get that new dell media pc thing that hooks up to your set up, its surprisingly cheap too

I use a plasma and a ps3 too and i recomend to you to use ps3 media server instead of TVersity it really kick ass

I have a 42" Sharp LCD. I have a 5.1 Sharp surround sound system that interfaces with my TV via Aquos Link. I've got an Xbox 360 and a PS3 hooked up and stream primarily though the Windows Media Server. I used TVersity at one point and definitely did not like it. I just download everything that I want to watch to my desktop and stream it through either the Xbox or the PS3 depending on which remote is closer.

Mine isn't that great of a setup at the moment. I've got my laptop running tversity to stream to my 360 on my Vizio 42" LCD...
