Thread: Whats your views on The United States?

Whats your views on The United States. Do you think they are headed in the right direction with President Obama? Is he more trustworthy than W. Bush? Do you think their foreign policies are more toward world peace or global dominance? In the future, do you still see them fighting a war, and if so, with who? If you see them fighting other countries then Iraq and Afghanistan, then name that country/countries and why?

Well my view is President Obama is far better than Bush.. Atleast he knows how to carry himself and atleast he has a personality. As far as foreign policy regarding global dominance is concerned, if there is 1, then its a far bigger scam than Obama alone... In that case Obama would be just one of the many players...
but as far as the main issue at hand regarding war on terror, i believe US has not been able to properly execute it and they have massively underestimated the Afghanistan terrain and Talibans in particulars...

Obama just got the peace price, he gotta be the best President ever.. Just been in office for some months and already done so much for keeping the peace in the world. I do agree with SNL that he got it for being NOT Bush..

I think Obama is the best thing that happend to USA for a long time.. But it is gonna be bad before it is getting good. It's hard to correct the wrongs of the previous presidents.

this is a very interesting question. being from the US, I am honestly curious to the rest of the worlds view of us. This being an international community, we should see lots of different answers. I don't like that we are viewed negatively in a lot of countries. but I suppose a lot of that is just our governments...

I agree with damnation. I'm from the States and I would like to see what people, not just nations in general think about the USA. No need to be say "you people" and such, but I'm up for criticism if thats what you're feeling

Yep, thats why I wanted to start this thread. I too am a citizen of the U.S. and would not want the whole world thinking negatively of us but I know they do cause of W. and his admin.. So it would be great to hear the views from others around the world, good or bad, no matter how negative they might be!

Personally, I find people from the states to be a mix and match situation. I've met rednecks, some really cool people from Baltimore, and some really annoying women from Boston. I also met some really pleasant tourists over here in Ireland who gave my friend a cigarette.

So overall, I really don't think you can just ask someone what they think of people from the US. It's too large in both population and a geographical sense to make such a generalisation.

As for the government, that's a whole different story that I don't want to get myself into.
