Default Usenet vs Bittorrent.. Who is the Victor?

I, like some of you know, am plagued with a terrible upload speed (1.33MB). I try, I really freaking try my hardest to upload everything I get. So far I have been privileged and lucky to have had the ratios I have acquired.

Yet, sometimes your dealing with a unstoppable force. You end up getting shoved off the cliff of termination because you couldn't upload enough. Sometimes you can't keep a good ratio no matter how hard you try. I have seen it, even felt that bitter sting of the termination ratio she-bitch a few times in the past. Places like Waffles or What.cd are notorious for it.

Some people have turned to Usenet. A place where upload is a foreign word. Where ratio is as alien as crazy jump-kicking clowns on crank. I have used Usenet before and my god is it fantastic. You pay a premium but you are unleashed to a world as big as bittorrent, as big as anything, with a speed that will max out your connection. All without the worry or the headaches of bittorrent.

Now for the record Usenet is one of the older file sharing systems we have. Where bittorrent of course is one of the newest. I love bittorrent, I love the people and the community's. I've had so many articulate, intelligent conversations with the people that use bittorrent, and have had the opportunity to have friendships with alot of you.

but Is It getting out of hand? People are spending good money on seedbox's when they can spend less if not equal for a quality usenet account. Where you can get everything to your hearts content without the headaches of ratios and uploading.

What are your thoughts on the subject? Would you rather spend the money on a Seedbox rather than a quality Usenet account and Why?

Thank you for your replys in advance.

assistance in this area would be appreciated. i have an excellent home connection, but i was considering a seedbox or a subscription to usenet. i know it would be time consuming, but if someone wrote a tut on setup and pros and cons of both that would be great!

I actually was thinking about writing my own personal Tutorial on the subject but I found a really helpful site that pretty much sums alot about Usenet up.

    mantup.com
Has a decent article on it.

I don't understand why people buy seedboxes and Usenet premium accounts. If I wanted to waste money I'd rather go to the store.
I don't have ratio problems and my upload speed isn't great either. My only difficulty right now is the lack of capacity, I don't have any space remaining on my external HDD (got to buy a new one) so I'm burning DVD's not to lose my content

Seedboxes are an adaptation. LOL, I'm serious. The copyright holders are putting pressure on us to adapt to a threat, and that adaption is private trackers. If everyone had only fast internet everything would be fine because everyone is on an even playing field. But as always, humans are greedy. Some started hording all the upload bandwidth with dedicated servers, which forced others to adapt and ultimately created the seedbox industry. Everything adapts to survive. Even pirates. The bad news is, it's not over yet. It's like an arms race. You get a knife, I get a bigger knife. You get a gun, I get a bigger gun. Soon seedboxes won't be enough. Mark my words.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't disagree at all. Just as I was reading your post I could not help but think that in my head.

I think this thread is slowly getting OT, but just briefly, it's clear to me that wherever someone can find someone else to make money off of, there will always be a shop open. Thus we have Newsgroup providers that charge a monthly fee, Seedboxes that charge a monthly fee, Pay-To-Leech FTP's, Buying invites, etc. etc. the list goes on. People will continue to make money off of pirated goods and that's pretty undeniable.

As for the usenet/P2P discussion, I think we should just snail mail all the new releases to each other as a proper downloading medium. That way the whole "wow" factor of getting the latest copy of Pokemon Warrior 5: Wrath of Pikachu TS XViD would be all the more sweeter.
