I would like some SIMPLE explanations about some stuff to do with torrents. Yes I could be redirected to a bunch of stickies and read a whole bunch of stuff and at the end of it I would know everything. But I dont want to know everything, I want to know a little bit about a few things.

I'm fairly new to the private torrent world, and I'm trying to understand your lingo, as well as trying to optimise my torrent speeds, keep my ratio and have fun. So please don't flame and say what a stupid quetion, or direct me to a massive thread, just an accurate description is all i want.

    - Note, I know some of the answers to these questions, this is not just for me, but for others as well.

Feel free to add your own questions, after a few days I might even take all the information and turn it into a simple tutorial. for us beginners.

    1. What is a seedbox, how does it work. How can people share them? What are you talking about when you say you have limited/unlimited bandwidth or allowance on seedbox?

    2. What is the difference between high/low level trackers? I know high levels are harder to get into, and harder to keep ratio's, but will I get faster speeds, or just access to rarer files?

    3. What are the top 10 low level trackers? Top 10 mid level? Top 10 high level? I know this is a matter of opinion, and I don't care for arguments over which tracker is better. I would just like to know what ones are good, what their uses are, and their differences.

Thanks for your help. If anyone wants to add more questions to this thread just pm me and I'll add it here, or post.. Please try to be detailed, and don't worry about if somebody listed a top tracker thats not your favourite, this is so beginners can get an idea.

    BAD Example:
xorg tracker is the best mofo tracker in the world man, you can get heaps of horse shiznit and ratios and sh!t and yeah whatevs its no.1 so fuk waffles.

    Good Example:
    1. Xorg
Xorg is a tracker containing purely animal porn videos. It is difficult to maintain a good ratio. Xorg has lots of hard to get animal porn, but nothing else. I recommend xorg to those who are good at maintaining ratios, enjoy horse sex, etc etc.

*To the best of my knowledge no such tracker 'Xorg' exists.

    Thanks for your help guys.

I will answer the first question for you. A seedbox is a high power server in a remote location used mainly for seeding torrents and is capable of transfering large amounts of data in very short time.

Think of it as a high powered computer that is used for torrenting. It is usually set up with a torrent client like utorrent on it and ftp so u can pull the files off the seedbox to your computer. U login to your seedbox either through remote connection or webui. For webui u would put this in your browser hxxp:/seedbox ip:port#/gui/. If u connect with vnc u will see the desktop of the seedbox like u were sitting in front of it. U then will use it like u would your own utorrent except seedbox's are powerful and have crazy connections so u will be able to seed 20 times back then u would at home.

Unlimited bandwidth means u can transfer as much data as u want in that month without the provider capping u. Some providers cap the bandwidth at 4tb a month and if u go over that your connection will go down to a 10mbit connection till u pay for more bandwidth.

U can purchase a seedbox through any server seller or re-seller. When people say shared box's that means there is more users besides yourself using the server for torrenting. Depending who the provider is shared servers usually consist of 4 to 12 users.

Three simple questions with complex answers.. :D

I'll try to answer the third questions. You may read here for the rank of private tracker levels. That should be enough for you to understand a little bit. Another good reference is here so you can find out which tracker is the most sought after. For detail of each trackers stated in both of my links, you could simply go to tracker reviews part of this forum. Hope I could help you.. :D

I will try my best on answering your second and third question.

What is the difference between high/low level trackers? It is a mere combination of several factors. A high level tracker is indeed hard to get into but it is hard to get into because it is known for a good community, fast speeds rare releases etc. Take F*n and P*n for example. They have decent speeds and content but their main factor is the tight-knit community that they have. While a tracker like TL has very little community but great speeds and content. So it is really up to yourself what trackers you go after. Doing some research in the tracker review section (that's what it's for after all) will also help your cause. There are trackers of all kinds: movies, music and even the porn section has it's dedicated trackers.

For your question number 3: it is definately a pure opinion thing, but this might help you out:

Scc: General tracker, overall good speeds and content with freeleech mp3 and archive section and some good packs.
TL: My main tracker. Movies, games and music, I get it mostly from here. TL is known for it's good content and very good speeds.
CE: A ratioless music tracker. May lack in content and speed, but since it is ratioless you won't hear me nagging.
GFT: A very fine tracker indeed. Combine Scc's packs with TL's speeds and Ce's ratiolessness and you will have GFT
Elektronik: Name says it all. Fine tracker for electronic (any kind) music releases.

These are my daily used trackers, there are so many others (even better) trackers out there but as I am no member I shall not comment on them.

I hope this helps you out a little.

Edit: Banned already? What a shame :(
