Thread: what ya'll think about buying goods from china and flipping it on ebay?

Hi everybody!!! My girl has been contemplating buying goods (cell phones, boots, shoes, ipods) from China and flipping it on ebay. I've been doing a little research and found that there is a lot of this going on Ebay. Has anyone had any experience with this? What are the legal implications? What do ya'll think?

There are always pros and cons to this kinda job. You have to think about all the things that could possibly happen or the things that can go wrong. I mean easily the pros could be everything goes right and you sell your products and make money and people are happy. Then there's the idea that you get a rEally bad product( cause china makes alot of fake things ) and when someone recieves their product and dislikes it, and gives you bad rep. No one would like to buy from you. I mean I'm not trying to bash on your idea, but I want you to find all the pros and cons and see which one outweights the other. I have personal experience with fake iPods and such and really makes me mad to see it happen to another person. ESP when your gonna buy it from china expecting a good product And it turns out bad. Well I'm just suggesting so don't take anything to personal but hope you can take it to consideration

I hate to be a downer, but your 'girl' would probably get more value out of her time if she were to do something else. First, the idea isn't original. In fact, many importers are using Ebay as a way to distribute. If you enter that market you'll be competing directly with them, and they do volumes that would bury you. Second, if you're considering counterfeit products, there's also a lot of competition, it's illegal, and I believe Ebay is cracking down. IMO, it's pretty much a no go.

Never try, and I'll never try it :)
