The big problem allowing free access to things like this is that not all advertising is as global as the TV shows they buy advertising space from. TV ads are usually local to the region that they are aired in which is a problem for shows streamed on the internet because they can be view from anywhare.

There is something called a slingbox that will allow you to actually watch TV on your iphone or Blackberry in any country in the world. All we need now is a monthly subscription to a TV station that allows you to choose what you want to watch and it could work. Just a few legal and copywrite issues to get around and it could work.

It can be free, but then your internet service will go up. I know the cable provider I have would charge more for internet. I mean if was free to watch every tv channel online then you know if you internet provider is through your cable company, then they would increase the price of internet to offset the cost. When its free no one is making money

Since the new revolution started, I think the laws and view wont only be changed for the better but because the 'enforcement' wont be able to constrain the growing popularity of torrenting :)

These are all great thoughts. The bad thing is that the movie and television industries don't seem to be having them as well. TV is moving to the internet. How will the television industry handle it. Will they continue to offer over-priced crap? For example, Eureka season 2 is like 40 bucks, contains no deleted scenes, no audio commentary, no real bonus features. Why would I buy that? I can get the same (basically) quality for free on the internet.

Content providers need to realize what the future is, change and adapt to it. Time will tell how this finishes.
