Thread: VLC Problems - What Video Player do you use? why?

My favourite is MPlayer (Movie Player for Linux). It is by far the fastest player i have ever used, it comes with its own codecs so you never have to install any and it simply offers everything I need, with speed and consistency.

I checked to see if there's a version for MAC OS since you're in need of that, and there is: MPlayerOSX, in case you wanna give it a try.

The only downside, if you're using it from Windows, would be that unless you specifically download that, it has no graphical user interface. So you can play/pause/etc only from keys, which, at least for me, works great. Though it got me a while to get used to the keys :)

Out of that list VLC..
Quicktime and WMP are LAME!!
Outside of that list I also like MPC-HC
Mplayer for linux is fine but the quality is far from superb.

Pretty much just VLC and MPC but I like to use VLC primarily for my HD stuff, when MPC doesn't support/play mkv, etc. as well as VLC.

I use Mplayer on Linux. It's lightweight, simple (as in minimalistic) and plays anything I throw at it. I used to use VLC, but the due to conflicting dependencies it crapped out on me.
