Battlefield Bad Company 2!
COD: MW was great when it arrived, but then Bad Company came along and showed that the world/environment could be more visceral, less scripted. Now that COD: MW2 is out, I find it's more of the same lifeless environment. MW2 still thinks that bullet marks on the walls and black stains on the ground where explosions happened is enough, it's not.
Bad Company wasn't an unbelievable experience or anything, but the game showed promise for future entries from DICE. If they have a crack writing team for the campaign, and the multiplayer is marginally better than BC 1, then they've got a solid gold winner in my book.
Like Modern Warfare, I don't think I'll finish the MW 2 campaign, yawn. It's too disruptive, pulling you in and out of different characters and events. I stopped caring about following the story and just focused on the infinite enemy spawns, which made it feel even less realistic.
