Default How do you play your Media?

I'm looking for a new way to play my media on my tv. Right now I have a softmodded xbox(first) with XBMC and I love it. The problem is the hardware is advanced enough to play anything HD so I'm not getting everything out of my tv that I could. I'm looking for a new way to play my media. I'm looking at either in Xbox360 or a PS3 what ever might be easier to play my media from my Ubuntu box. Any ideas would be great or as the title says just post what you use.

The WDTV is great, it plays almost any file format you throw at it and goes up to 1080p

I really like that idea its what I'm looking for the only problem is I would have to stop downloading as the external harddrive that I have is also where all my media goes. I'm kinda looking for a networking option. Also it has to work with linux which causes the most problems. I hate windows. Any ideas post them. As always though post you own setups always cool to hear what other people are doing.

I use my X-360 to wirelessly stream media from my pc using TVersity and it works great. My uTorrent d/l folder is shared in TVersity which refreshes the library every hour. Occasionally I have to unrar the file before I can stream the movie or watever I want to watch but that's not a big deal. (NO MORE RARed TORRENTS GRRR)

There are only two reasons that I can think that this is happening.
    1) The connection between your PS3 and where ever you are getting your media from (PC or what not) is not moving the data fast enough. A way to get around this is to try setting the cache setting higher so it will have more data to keep a buffer if this is the problem.

    2) This one is VERY unlikely. For some reason the hardware on your PS3 isn't able to play the media at full speed. I think this would have to be a defect in your PS3 because the PS3 is practically a little computer one that is even more powerful then an old laptop of mine.

A decent nvidia graphics card and linuxmce and you can turn your computer into a functioning htpc. This si the setup I have at home but a bit more advanced. I have a pc at each tv in my home that acts like a satelite recieved (called a media director) and it works great for me. Plus there are a few plugins to downlaod ftp from a seedbox or even use a bitorrent client in linuxmce.

I'm def thinking about going down that route the only problem is I'm worried about getting a video card that doesn't work with the linux drivers or only finding one that is to expensive. Might you have any suggestions as do a decent priced card?

Zotac geforce 8400 gs is a great card, it's what I use and have never had any problems with it.
