They are safe as long as they're not stupid.

Sadly though it is quite common for young people to be stupid or to just not think through things before doing them so it all depends I suppose.

@SunSpyda: I would move your thread if I had the ability to do so lol. =P

Sure, as long as they are properly guided, and don't have the right to install programs from the net. Or maybe even download anything at all. =)
Since you will get you pc bloated with malware, spyware etc. really fast. Though this are not only young children who do that. More the elderly in fact.

Also a porn filter and watch them every once in a while and it should be fine. =)

    BitMe, Thank you Cheesy!! =D
Thanks to BitLovin for my Waffles invite. ^^

My only concerns for young people are Facebook and Myspace. Girls at my work who are way younger than me, 17, 18 years old, have told me stories about creepy old guys that they don't know in their 30's trying to add them on Facebook.

I voted for Yes, if precations are followed.

As long as they are given some general guidance, kids should be fine. For young kids a descent filter should generally do, but most teenagers are more tech savvy than their parents and can get around such things. Probably the biggest issue is the amount of time kids can spend on the net, but that is fairly easy to monitor.

I think they are completely safe in terms of "predators" if they are not stupid. In terms of them seeing adult content, they are safe as long as precautions are taken (ie. filters).
