Just starting in torrents I used bitcomet, but as soon as I started trying to join this site I switched to utorrent and it's an excellent little program. It doesn't bother my system at all, which is a good thing :o)
I currently use utorrent because of it's small size and because it is very easy to use.
I'm using the new uTorrent 2.0 and not only is it fast, but it doesn't hog the bandwidth of your network by automatically throttling it's speed.
Transmission from Ubuntu, uTorrent from Windows... Both are really good and lightweight. I used to use Azureus..nice client but since it was written in Java it was kind of...you know... sloooooow
