years ago i will say AMD, but now i suggest Intel Core 2

its not much of a competition anymore, AMD produce serious heat and intels dual core far better
Currently Intel are winning, but AMD will come back at some point, they always do.

as other said depends for what u need to use the pc but both are good cpu producers i actually use a qx9770 from intel but i hear the new pnenom from amd are very good made for gaming this is my 1st intel and used before just amd and must say never had any problem with the cpu but all depends of what u use the pc for and the aplications that use lots of cpu atm i found no aplication that can use all my 12mb cache of the quad of intel
