the statement (Rap is popular, but I think that's because its easier to understand) implies that people who listen to hip hop are dumb or sub par. some hip hop lyrics are much more complex than most rock songs and extremly hard to understand. peoples opinions of why one is better than the other is often lame as shit. but thats their opinion as uneducated as it often is. apples and oranges... good music is good music regardless...
