only the shadow knows the evil in the heart of men
i like both, they're are really different genres so its hard to compare, but sometimes i enjoy more rock music than rap..
I like very few rap songs. My greatest problem is that most of the rappers sing/rap about how cool and awesome they are and how many hardships they had during childhood and so on. Or how rich they're today and how many chicks they have each day... *booooooring*
It's like their world view is stuck in the 50s where every woman has to obey a man and you define yourself how rich and strong you are.
I know that there are some intelligent rappers out there but I just can't find them...
That#s the one thing... the other is, that every rap song I've heard so far is just bloody simple in turns of beat/tempo/arrangement. I like it if you can explore the structure of a song bit by bit. Extreme example: Death Metal songs with a bunch of different tempos and beats.
If you have a simple arrangement the lyrics should be thoughtful and keep you thinking - like some singer /songwriter.
So for me it's definitely rock! ;)
