Lossless whenever available (not necessarily FLAC).

But when it's not, 320 is acceptable, most of the times.

If I can't make the furniture tremble without clipping I'm not satisfied lol.

This thread reminds me that I have to get a new pair of pads and a cable for my HD-25s

I can't tell the difference between lossless and uncompressed, but between lossy and lossless most of the times it's notorious.

For professional or more serious purposes most people use uncompressed formats like WAV or AIF which are kind of pointless for me because they take too much space and are hard to find.

I download my music in FLAC, but i convert it in OGG because i don't like MP3 or AAC(proprietary codec made by SONY and Apple and I don't like these two companies).

I will usually download music in FLAC format, whenever possible.
And then convert it... should I ever need to :P

Yeah, I have actually just started doing the same (because I read what you all posted here and thought "genius"). I have FLAC for my computer (and surround sound), but am converting it to MP3 for my ipod. Good advice all!

Why should I download an album in flac (~600mb) when i can use 320 (~100mb), Through laptop speakers and some ear plug there is no difference, even if the laptop has dolby digital audio. So by saying that I prefer good quality and less space occupied so i tend to go for cbr, and even v0 are okay for me.

I've got a ton of equipment hooked up to listen to music. I have extensively compared FLAC to mp3 through various pieces of equipment. I download about 80% of my music in mp3. If I really enjoy that music and I think it's well recorded I'll seek out the flac version.

If you don't have a nice audio set-up (e.g. >$200 heapdhones, and gaming headsets don't count) you will rarely notice a difference if the music is well recorded. That being said, most modern music is not recorded and mixed well, so in practice you will rarely hear a difference with FLAC.

On that topic, anyone point me to the best trackers for flac? Or is there a tracker that specializes in HDtracks specifically?
