Actually dubs are the worst. T_T Absolutely hate it. If they did it right okay, maybe... But unfortionally they never do that. T_T
If you are going to let somebody try anything, don't give them dubs. =p Subtitles are better in my opinion. And if you like Death note, there are way more story lines like that. ;-) You just barely have scratched the surface there. =)

lol, for someone who generally doesn't watch anime, dubs are a good place to start.

I don't know how you watch your movie's but most people I know of only watch them with subs. Only people with reading problems might prefer dubs to actual subtitles.
[ And some others might to, but most people like subs above dubs. =) ]

I watch subbed anime, I'm just saying that most people who probably hated anime and wants to start watching it probably would prefer dubs to start out with.

With me, I get distracted quite easily so I would be staring at the subs the whole time and not paying attention to what's happening.

Hadn't thought of that possibility yet. =)
Still would hate to watch dubbed show myself though, can't stand the way people are mostly talking in those version. Would totally ruin my enjoyment. But luckily I am not the one that has to watch it. ^^

I dunno. Sometimes they do a really good job on the dubbed. I thought they did excellent with the Death Note dubs.

Haven't seen the official ones, what I watched is all mostly just a couple of weeks behind when they aired in Japan. Generally I just hate dubs, just prefer to watch everything in the original language it was written in. And if I can't understand the language with subtitles in a language I do understand preferably with the best literal translations possible. =)

I don't particularly like Anime but I certainly don't hate it quite as passionately as you do.
