Thread: Organisational skill's in Torrenting

Hi All

I work in an small regional office with 3 other people and Im the one who always makes sure everything is organised, I set up folders and sub folders on the company servers to make sure everything is stored correctly and easily found again, Out of the other 3, 2 of them are total technophobes (including the boss, Lol) and the other is just not someone who is organised.

Yet for a few reasons when I got into torrenting a few months back I didnt get organised enough, One problem that stopped me filing everything the way I wanted was the inabaility to move a seeding item (I have since learnt how to stop/move/start seeding again) Plus now I have a seed-box I dont have files locked into place on my system.

I have signed upto a few trackers and used differant passwords etc,

On my computer I have some files that have not been reconstructed, Some that have - often constructed and non constructed issues of the same file, Some that just dont work (not many) Some that are good quality, some that are poor (often if I have downloaded a porr quality one I will have 2 copies where I have gone back and got a better one)

All in all it is not organised and its annoying me, So tonight I have started organising, this is what I have done / will be doing.......


Already done...............

1, Set up a crib sheet, With tracker name / Address, Username and password.

2, Set up a dedicated email add, the same as I generally use for my id and changed this to my email add on all my sites I use for torrenting with @yahoo.co.uk after it.

3, Changed my email and password on all my sites, making sure the password is the same for everything.



To do in the morning...................

Sort out all my downloads, organise into folders

Delete the rubbish / duplicated files

Set up 2 extra folders, so in the end I will have 3

Folder 1 - Downloads to go direct into here whist they are downloading.
Folder 2 - Downloads to go here once complete and await processing.
Folder 3 - Once files from 2 have been reconstructed / tested put into folder 3 which already exists, this already has about 30 sub folders and many of those are then broken down again especially in the case of TV shows with multiple seasons.



So, does anyone else get into a mess with their downloads?
Does anyone else actually care about being overly organised?
Or am I just 100% geek?

lol, we all are. No worries. I wouldn't use the same password for your sites though.
