Whats ur fav metal band of all time....be it glam metal, death metal , thrash , or just old school heavy metal or the many other sub genres.
I would say Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica.

I'm obsessing over Slipknot's new CD at the moment. There are so many good bands though, really hard to determine my favorite...

Nothing against you Idontpk, but Chimaira is nothing special. Honestly I just now went and listened to there most popular songs on last.fm and I was laughing lol. You call that Metal? I call it mallcore crap for every hardcore wannabe kid to obsess over. Ironically your most favorite bands are some of my most hated lol. Honestly, most modern day metal bands are the same things over and over again, replicating the older days of metal, back when it was good. Im not even amazingly into metal, but I hate seeing more and more bands getting fed money that do not deserve it.

Times are a-changing, I don't know what to tell you. I've heard your statement many times, people comparing it to the "older" days. Honestly I think most of that music is garbage. Judas Priest? Iron Maiden? Blind Guardian? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Might as well hand me a glass filled with sleeping pills. Sorry, I'm just tired of everyone saying the "older days" metal is better, guess what no one really cares when you tell people that.

Yeah, there are a lot of cool bands back in the days too, I just hate hearing "Slipknot? Are you kidding me? That's not metal, throw on some Metallica or something." Yeah they had some cool stuff, big whoop.

It's like comparing Final Fantasy XII to Final Fantasy II, saying FF2 is cooler cause it's older and a classic. I'm tired of it. /rant

hah and then this is the typical response that I see lol. Generally its just age or maturity level. Oh and btw when I say "older" im not referring to the Metallica and Iron maiden lol. I agree, that is all you hear. But im just wondering, between the literal billion sub-genres these days, do you really and truly consider Slipknot, Metal?

I really don't care what genre it falls under really, it's a band that I enjoy listening to, but if it isn't metal what is it?

But I do know it falls under some sort of 'metal' genre.
