Default I need a new TV!

I'm in need of a new TV, I've had this Samsung SlimFit HDTV for a few years now and I can't stand how bulky it is and the small 30" screen. It makes watching moves not fun and makes playing my new PS3 very tedious. So I need your help picking out a good TV for me. Here is the catch... I'm pretty much broke right now so I have to use a credit card, the only card that I currently have that is not fully used is my Dell card. They have "somewhat" of a decent collection online. But I have to buy from there. I'm working with no more than $700.

I've been looking at the site and I've noticed that I've been looking at the 46" and up TVs. My choice is this 51-inch PN51D530A3FXZA Plasma HDTV from Samsung for $647. I feel like I'm getting the most bang for my buck. 1080p, 51" is a good deal I believe. I know it only has 2 HDMI ports but I only use my PS3 and my FIOS tv box so I don't think I would need anymore slots? And I know that Plasmas get a bad wrap but I heard that the new Plasma are really hard for the screen to burn, if you take care of it properly, everything should be fine? I also heard that it is extremely hard to tell the difference between a TV that has a 60hz refresh rate and a TV with a 120hz refresh rate and that both should be fine for playing video games and watching movies with no blur? What do you think of this TV?

So if you guys could check the Dell website out and let me know what you think the best deal is and in my price range I'd greatly appreciate you helping me make a decision. I'm not a gaming fanatic or anything like that, I'm just a causal gamer and movie goer. I download and watch a lot of movies and play my PS3 here and there.

It sucks that I have to buy from Dell but I have to work with what I got.

    Thanks everyone- droid

Sounds really good that 51" samsung! I think if you have a Samsung Galaxy S2 you can interact with the TV from it too! Also my TV only has 2 HDMI ports too but I have one of those HDMI switches to switch between my PS3 and Mini Mac, so that is always an option if you have 3 HDMI devices..

I never heard of the plasma's being bad for burn-in and I don't know about the refresh rate either but mabye someone else will come and shed some light on these things..?

you're spot about the refresh rates from what I've read the human eye can't tell much of a difference. The TV your talking about seems to be no longer available (all I see is a 720p for the same price, maybe the TV you linked to was a Black Friday sale?) sucks you have to go through Dell but it is what it is. Now I'm not sure about Plasma's I remember when they first came out the picture life was about half of it's LCD counterpart, but I'm not sure about newer TV's (hell my brother-in-law bought a LCD backlit LED and it didn't even last 2 yrs b4 the LED went out) Good luck hope you get what your looking for

Well if you can last for a while longer... wait for the 3D tech to mature... then what you are looking at now will be really cheap ;) without the Smart TV and 3D capabilities...

Have you considered getting a projector instead?

I've been using a 720p projector for a couple years, and it is great for having people over, parties, etc. It's great because you can easily have a 125cm wide screen size for ~$700 ($600 ish for the projector and ~100 for the screen).

The price quickly climbs as you increase the resolution. I find 720p to be decent enough and it saves a good deal of time/space when downloading movies.
