I asked my wife what she thought about this thread. Her first thought was that this thread was chauvinistic and she laughed. She's been downloading things since before we met, from applications to ebooks to games. When I asked her why she downloaded content she said, "Because I'm cheap and because it's out there." So there's your answer. I think it's really a misnomer to say women in particular are more likely to stream content. I think the youth population in general is moving toward streaming content because they grew up with that model of content acquisition. For many of us who are older internet users, we still have that tendency to want to 'own' content by downloading it and at least retain a digital copy.

@ Lousa , no offense taken, as you say I'm really lost on this subject.
I appreciate your input, that is the kind of light on the subject that I'm looking for.
However, judging by the looks of it, this is a matter of perception, so please don't be depressed : ) by my dumb question.

@ whiteboy and wife, sorry I never meant to say there were no women on file sharing, I apologize if my thread seems loaded with sexism, believe me it is not, an its not my intention to degrade women in any way.

No need to get offended, ladies. These are just statistics. There are a low reported number of girls on trackers, and most tech websites. Stating that fact and asking why isn't being sexist, any more than stating that the majority of murders committed in America are perpetrated by black people (not African Americans as they are not all from America) even though that race is only 12% of the population and looking for possible causes of this phenomenon.

No offense taken, this kind of topic is supposed to spur debate, so it's all good. Plus Oscarnater, I'm not sure trackers statistics can be very reliable - but I get your point.
As for "sexist" views, any woman who doesn't want to turn it into a career learns to laugh or shrug when she hears about what women are or are not supposed to do - comes with the territory ;)

Since there were no more updates in quite some time I'm closing this thread, thanks to all for your valuable input.
