Default PiAnet (non-tracker website) gives its users invites.

PiAnet (former magesy) decided for the first time (as far as I can remember) during its existence to give its users invites (1 per person).
And I believe its been alive for 3 years now (from October 15th 2008), not very long ago they updated the site to version 4.0, a new layout that looks many times better and more organized than before. For now there has not been any expire date set for the invites.

The site provides links to password protected archives on file hosting services. All the content is somehow related to music production: sample libraries, virtual instruments, presets, effects, magazines, tutorials etc.

Never heard of this before...seems to be a goldmine of sorts for audio enthusiasts haha. I'm keen to know more though, what exactly is this thing? I sort of understand it but it's still confusing. BTW! I know you had a thread a while back in the off-topic section and that you were looking for music comps to enter.
I have found possibly one of the best sites for those competitions. check this site if you haven't my friend.

Hey thanks, I'm definitely going to take a look at that site. And yeah, I'm still looking for competitions to enter, I decided to lock that thread as too few people bothered to read the first post and only replied according to the thread title :(

PiAnet isn't very useful alone, you should have an account at wupload.com, fileserve.com, filesonic.com or uploaded.to to get the most out of it, but you can download the files without paying for the service only then you must wait like 1 minute before you can start your download, and at least 15 minutes after completing the download before you can download again from the same site. Speeds don't get very high either. Since the files are are quite often uploaded to 3 or more sites you can download one part from one place and the second one from another so it won't take an eternity even if you're not paying (I'm not).

There are a couple of torrent sites that have the same kind of content as PiAnet, at least PAT and AN. Maybe the best thing about PiAnet in comparison to torrent sites is not having to worry about seeding back. I myself don't download that much from PiAnet (only small files that are not split across hundreds of rar-files). All the releases are uploaded with a picture and the site is very easy to browse, in fact I'm using the site mainly for that purpose. It gives you a good overview of what has been released and by reading the informative descriptions you get a better picture what the applications really are like. Now they have even started putting up links to video reviews and I really liked this improvement. If I find a release that looks promising, then I just copy the name and get it from a torrent site (given that it has been uploaded there too). They also use different icons for windows and mac releases so you can quickly see if it is going to work on your computer (most of them work on both mac and windows).

If you want me to, I can send you a link to the site and you can take a look at it, and if you really like it I could possibly invite you.

It's so sad that people don't take the time to read through your post these days hey! They just read the title and assume that's all the need to read. I could see why you would be frustrated, a lot of people were giving the same sort of answers which didn't really help. I am a number on the site I linked to you, I have found it to be immensely rewarding-not only does it help you shape your creative flow the prizes you win are just insane! Talking about a $1000.00 and up in Aus money, just do a conversion to your currency to get a good idea. You also can get good commissions from people needing scores for films/commercials etc. So yeah it has my highest recommendations =D

Yeah I had a quick look and at first didn't understand it, now I get what you mean. The best part about it is the fact that you can read and see pictures of the software and get a good idea about it. Seems like it has a dedicated group of people using it, from what I gather anyway. I appreciate your offer as well, I'm looking to for PAT at the moment actually but I doubt I will get an invite until I get my seed box back so I can get another ratio proof. I have one atm which I used for my intro to this site. I hear PAT is fantastic so I really want to have a look and see what it's like. I will definitely explore PIAnet more though-it seems to be a good partner to sites like PAT.
