    Default Re: E-reader tab?

    I too am a fan of real books (I collect old books) and my e-reader will never replace them, but e-readers have numerous advantages and I have never regretted the money I spent on my Nook. It is nice to not worry about something ruining my nice hardcover books, it is much lighter, you can adjust the text to a size that is more comfortable to read, and the two most important issues if you travel a lot or read on the go, it takes up much less space is you can literally take an entire library with you. You can easily find nearly any book in .epub and in the cases when you can only find the book in .pdf Nook Nativity supports the format. The E-Ink display really does seem like reading off of a printed page.

    The major down side of the Nook is the way it organizes the books on it. The "shelf" system forces you to hand order them into shelves or leave them in one large list. This is something that B&N is supposedly going to address eventually, but in the mean time it can get a little annoying paging through a large list of books. That said, if you have no reason to keep more than 50ish books on your reader at one time, it's nothing to worry about at all. The Nook also sometimes slows down a bit handling large PDF files, but again, I haven't found it to be a deal breaker.

    I have no experience with any other E-reader, so I can't really compare.

    <edit>
    I wanted to add, I am talking about a black and white nook. The nook color has a display similar to an ipad or a cell phone and it will cause glare problems that the black and white nook doesn't have. It is probably a better idea to wait on the new amazon kindle fire over a nook color.

    I also stumbled upon this thread that you may find helpful:

    I just bought the new sony PRS-T1, and i warly recommend it.

    WHY ?

    - it is the lightest ereader on market
    - wifi integrated, means you cat get books on the cloud, or search on wikipedia or google
    - it has a touch screen, so more ergonomic (you can turn pages like you do with a paper book, or you can point a word and have its definition for instance)
    - it has been hacked so you can run android apps
