just curious, for those who have downloaded dvd5 or dvd9, do you burn them to dvds or store them in harddisk drives?
i mean previously there were cds, now dvds, in the future blu-ray?
wouldn't dvds be obsolete?

I use DVD's right now, but if the price of Blu-ray Discs were to drop I'd definitely look into that.
I burn my movies to DVD. My dvd player is divx compatible. I do believe Blu-Ray players can read dvd's tho, so it should be safe to burn to DVD
I used to burn a lot on DVDs. But now, with many high-resolution movie files bigger than even a Dual Layer DVD, i've stopped doing so. Also, even at 8 GB a disc, that ends up taking physical space quite quickly. For physical density, nothing beats HDDs.
I've used DVDs and external HDD. The best is DVD, for longevity as long as you don't scratch them! HDDs are unpredictable, had mine a year and broke, now I've lost all my files, whereas my DVDs won't break so easily.
True. The other day my HD content-dedicated 1 TB drive had trouble being recognized, and I freaked out a bit. At least with optical storage discs you can't lose an entire collection in one bad electronical blip.
Fortunately, you usually see HDD crashes coming. I mean, they don't just die on the spot without any kind of warning, there's usually either been some kind of warnings before, or they're still not that fucked up that you can't find a way to access them a few last times to transfer the data to a new one.
I burn all of my movies to DVD. I'm in the process of doing this with downloaded games, just so I can get them off my drive.
