Dells use low quality hardware, don't buy into the low-price trap. Toshiba makes excellent laptops that last a long time (like Toyota is in the US car market). AMD dual-core refirbished Toshibas are going for ~$350 at toshibadirect.

I like Gateways and Compaqs. Compaqs are generally cheaper and perform as well as any other laptop, Gateways are just awesome.

I'm thinking of getting a Macbook Pro, it just seems to be what I'm looking for right now.
I'm currently using an Acer Aspire, but it's really big and clunky, even though it does have quite nice hardware.

I just need to save up now for it .

So to reiterate, I think it's gotta be Apple for me right now.

Acer's are the lowest end for best bang u can get nowadays. However Dell's are ROCK solid (from my experience to date) and last like a well maintained tank. Alienware if they're still in business made some pretty rad laptops. But for windows 7 or Vista (as u say u want but I'd suggest looking into Win7 to tell u the truth) u can upgrade the acer netbooks memory and u got a tiny little powerhouse.. for games... I'd stick with a full laptop from alienware, dell, or maybe even toshiba. But research, u have plenty of opinions here and all will help shape an image for you to use or not.
please let us know what u ended up choosing. =)

Hp are value laptops for money today. Best graphics cards, screens, processors, ram and Hard drive space for the lowest price. On some models you also get two batteries here.
