think it basically boils down to the hardware.. and if you can install XP on it even better
Imo, Toshiba is a great manufacturer. I had an x200 gaming laptop once, it worked really well even though it came with Vista.
They used to be referred to as "Toshitbox" because they'd overheat really easily and were notorious for it. However as long as you take care of it and not leave it running on a BLANKET or something now FLAT, you will be okay. The newer models are built much better and don't have a problem so long as you keep them in a well ventilated place.
Conversely, I'd avoid Acer at all costs. Personally had some bad experiences with them, but as a gaming/power user, that doesn't say much for a laptop not built for said things. They are okay, I just don't like em.
Hope that helps!
never had a problem with Dell XPS
also Gateway is pretty good and also cheap!
I like dell because they always work good for me and never fail.
I use apple. The hardware and stuff on their laptops is pretty good. Also, Apple Care usually has support agents that are native english speakers, that you are actually able to understand :P
I think Dell is great because their price and you can choose your own hardware configuration, although under limited choices. Also their services is good enough.
