Thread: What is your financial situation like?

Hey guys,



just wondering what you financial situation is like at the moment.
Mine is pretty bad. I'm having a hard time since I'm still in school and I can't really focuse that much on school work if I'm working, so I don't have a job at the moment, thing is my dad is retired and the company my mom works for just just declared bankrupcy, so looks like I'm gonna have to find a job to help out until things get better.

Hoping things work out in the end. Gotta stay positive

sounds rough but everything will work itself out. just remember whatever doesn't kill ya will only make you stronger.

my financial situation is pretty lean. the wife & I are expecting our second kid in January (we have a 2yr old). we both work entry levelish jobs in our field, actually we work in the same company. and I just look around and think how are we gonna pay for all this with another little one. but we're still young with upside to grow and move into better positions.

I myself am in school currently. I am fortunate enough to have parents that can pay a chunk of my tuition. - I get loans for the rest.
I pretty much pay for my way in everything else though. Rent, Utilities, Car Insurance, Food, Ect..
During the summer, I work 2 jobs making about 2k to 2.5k a month. (anywhere from 75 - 110 hour weeks)
I save like mad during my timeoff, and then during the school year I make about 700 month. Which is just enough to cover the bills, but any big expenses (books, car repairs, ect) all comes right out of the savings.

100k in student loan debt.

Almost 2 months without a job...
They fired the half of the staf( including me) at my ex job. Have t find a new job till then.
No vacations again, bills waiting me to pay em.
But life is a bitch , who knows, tommorow could wake up and be a milionare :D

I'm doing pretty good but I live well within my means, like not using the dyer by hanging things out side.

My wife and I went from $142k USD a year combined 3 yrs ago to both of us being unemployed for almost 3 yrs.

My wife was a Det for the sheriffs dept for 12 yrs. She was a deptuty for 6 yrs prior to that. Through budget cuts and restructuring she lost her job as only got 6 months severance pay. The company I was with for 8 yrs went bankrupt. My wife went back to school and graduated a month ago. She just found work last week. But its only $13hr + commission and now she has over $40k in student loans to pay back. We know a couple people with full legal degrees who only make $15hr as legal aids. Police officers doing security work for $10hr by day and bouncing at bars on the weekends for $75 a night. Its pathetic.

My unemployment ran out back in Jan. I've been hustling my mowing equipment door to door, doing odd jobs, hustling my truck and car trailer for who ever I can, fixing computers for neighbors etc. I currently bring in a little more than my wife makes. But we are both working twice as hard and together we still dont make what only one of us made 3 yrs ago.

I have a disabled brother in a wheel chair, a 15 yr old and a 17 yr plus our dog who all depend on me for support. My oldest is taking college courses and night classes to finish his highschool. He cant find any work locally because all the people out of work are working the jobs that teenagers usually work. I worry for him. Its rough right now.

Employers have no mercy. They know we are desperate for work and offer minimum pay if you can even find a job. For example,.. many places only hire part time employees so they dont have to pay benefits. Its a sad time to be an American right now.

eesh. lots of debt built up after a long stretch of unemployment.
Funny thing is that for the first several months off, I just decided to take some vacation time - then by the time I thought about returning to work, the economy tanked and I couldn't find anyone hiring. I spent a lot of time retraining myself for different work, and am getting some contract work now - just enough to make the bills, but it'll be a while before I can climb out of the hole.
