Default My thoughts goes to Norway

Last night a bomb went off in the Government centre of Oslo, Norway, and several politically active youths at a camp not far from there was shot to death a few hours later. According to police it's the same man who did both deeds. And today they count up to 90+ dead.

In Scandinavia, we're not used to these kinds of deeds so close to home, and this incident shakes more than just the Norwegians, it sends shivers down the spine of all of Scandinavia.

So today I wish to present my thoughts and condolences to all whom are touched by this incident, and a wish for hope and strength to find roots in the hearts of the Norwegian people so they can move forward and re-build the ruins left in their hearts and souls after this tragedy.

I get a lump in my throat every time one of these things happens. At times I feel guilty about it because there are even larger atrocities happening each day and I wonder if these types of things effect me more because I secretly know that I'm probably more at danger of a random bombing than a cholera outbreak or a bloody civil war. Either way, this was a senseless act resulting in a massive loss of life of innocent people, and I can't help but feel sad. I don't know what to do about it either. How do we stop this kind of thing from happening? I don't know that we can.

It seems like our own brand of crazy here in the states is spreading. I'd much rather our BBQ or Shiner Bock spread rather than our thrill/spree kill crazy. I can't put into words how I feel, but luckily Irothz eloquently stated just how I feel, so I will quote him.

I have not heard about this on American media yet. I guess with everything else going on here American media companies dont think its that important to report.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your country for those in need. So many people in this world that believe the only answer to get a message across is to harm people. God be with those who died and may their families find solace and peace with themselves as well as those dear to them.

If you want to keep up with what's going on in this story visit 4chan's weapons board, they're releasing more info than the media is at this point. So far they've found a website he belonged to and his manifest. Supposedly he also videotaped the shootings on the island but the video is now removed.

There's always a malcontent somewhere. Really rough for anyone who lives in Oslo.

Can't stop thinking of the poor familly to the victims, who sent their sons and daughters of to camp thinking that they were gonna have a great time among friends that just shared the same politicial beliefs. Not knowing that a sick man is about to kill them, because he sees them as little soldiers in a war going on in his mind.

For now he has admitted parts of his plan and is in police custody.

He used the bomb in Oslo has a diversion and then went to the island "Utøya" disguised as a policeman wanting to inform the kids about the bombing in Oslo. When the kids draw near him he draw an auto gun (though it's been suggest that his weapons was a handgun and a riffle) and started shooting at the kids who ofc. ran in all kinds of directions trying to hide. He then walked around saying it was okay and that he was a policeman, but then started shooting again when kids went out thinking they were saved. It took 1 hour and 30 min undtil actual police arrived and took him to custody.

Total deaths count is on 92 and still a lot missing.

May their souls rest in peace.

I can't get it out of my head just because it's in the papers and on the TV news all the time. They overdo it in my opinion, I don't think it's good to over advertise the tragedy in that extent, after all there's nothing you can do afterwards. I have bad memories of how the news from a school shooting incident in my country was in the headlines for weeks and how soon the second one followed. My thoughts are that the news was a spark for the second shooter, whose mind was in the state that it couldn't handle it. It's somehow strange that no friends notice any abnormal behavior in these maniacs, but maybe it doesn't show and they might have been planning the attacks for months if not even years.
Well anyway, my condolences from Finland. The news has shaken all of Fennoscandia.
The political nature of this attack makes me even angrier. How is an attack killing 90+ citizens going to affect politics? In the opposite direction I would think. It only gives the far right a bad reputation that will be difficult to change, the lack of 90 voters then again won't have any effect at all.
