    Default Your first memories

When I was 2 years old, I remember something...

I was in a hospital room. There were nurses standing around me, and a doctor to my left. I vaguely remember him[the doctor] taking me from my mothers arms and placing me on a table of some sort. Above this table was a machine with many interesting mechanisms that constantly moved back and forth. A flat, beige, metal slide moved above me. From side to side as if penetrating me with invisible beams of light. I reached for the moving object... it was just to obvious. Moving back and forth... I wanted to touch it but my mother said NO, the doctor pulled my hand away...

    And the memory faded...

    What was your EARLIEST MEMORY?

Well, this is a strange thread. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED IT!
I think the the oldest thing I can remember... I don't know, this is not easy. I have a few, but can figure out wich one is the oldest... I think it was when I had an operation as a baby, don't remember very well the motive. I had a strange alergy, I think. And I remember the doctors around me in the surgery room. I remember because they were funny and making me laugh (because I was a baby and they wanted to make me feel confortable. Good job btw).
    That's what I have to share :)

Wow ... that's amazing that people can remember stuff from when they are 1 or 2 years old. Or maybe I'm just getting too old I have vague memories of when I was a pre-schooler. Nothing sharp - just images of an old apartment my family lived in, walking around the neighborhood. My oldest clear memories are from early elementary school age.

It is fuzzy and may not, in fact, be a real memory. But I tend to think it is so I am including it. This "exercise" can have far-reaching, even profound, implications which is why I am joining this thread. This memory is very early in life (younger than age two) and I think in a hospital room. Seems my father came over to me while I was in a crib or something like that. I remember looking up and seeing him as he appeared near me. That's all.

Object relations psychologists and Sages/Adepts have indicated that binding identification with/as the physical organism occurs between the ages of two and three. Some people can clearly remember the moment when they started to identify as the body-based being. And a recommended practice to dissolve this binding and blinding identification is to try to remember the first memory and to do so so vividly and really feel into it such that body identification can dissolve and abidance as unity consciousness may be the result. So there is more to this simple remembrance than meets the eye if done with deep feeling.

My first memories are related to my first bike and when I first learned to ride a bike after many falls.
