vote for NVIDIA :P
Used to be ATI when they had the 9700 / 9800 Pro's but then NVidia just took over and became king..althought I find their yearly increments a bit pants so dont upgrade inbetween 3 - 4 years.
a friend of mine bought a bunch of 3dfx stock... oops.
nVidia in my opinion (and experience)
duuuuuuuuude mvidia all the way the 9 series is insane
If someone who works for Nvidia is reading this, I would like to say a few things....
Stop those Fuc*ing annoying "The way it's meant to be played" adverts on games. I just want to play my game, but everytime I go to play, I am bombarded by Nvidia adverts that are aimed at morons who belive anything they are told. I got so annoyed with one of them, I actually used OllyPE to remove the advert from my most played game.
Nvidia are just idiots. Firstly they wipe out there entire Linux market (Which is getting bigger by the day) by making their drivers (Or kernel modules for Linux users) closed source, so they can't be used with Linux distros properly. Then they charge loads for cards, which ATI do 10 times cheaper for the same power. On top of that, they put stupid required Nvidia control panel which just wastes space. When I installed my ATI driver, I had the option to not install the control panel, but on my Nvidia card, I didn't.
Why ATI are better -
1) You don't get ATI fanboys chanting the advert slogans to anyone who will listen.
2) No bluddy annoying game intro adverts.
3) Cheaper for the same power.
4) Works on all OSs with their exellent drivers, unlike Nvidia.
5) They will function without a bloated control panel.
6) They pay less for branding & more on making their cards cheaper.
7) The word ATI sounds cooler than Nvidia. =P
8) They work well with other brands of cards when using multiple monitors. Unlike Nvidia.
Enough said.
I've had a few Nvideas and a few ATIs and I have to say that I've liked my Nvidea cards a lot more. The ATI ones I had created tons of driver problems and were just messes all the time. I had an x300 ATI at one point that I updated the drivers for and these "updated drivers" made my computer have a nice BSOD about 5 minutes after I booted it up. It took me ages to get the computer fixed again because the old drivers were nowhere to be found. I've never had a problem with Nvidea though so I'm sticking with them.
i got a nvidia 9600gt
I have an ATI card, but I think I prefer NVIDIA.
