nVidia
Ati
After 4870 - ATI hands down :)
Definitely NVidia, i have found it always works a lot better.
Nividia have always been better performance, but ATI are really doing well recently, especially with the 4870 series. They are great value for money and the X2 version will match any 280GTX nvidia. It's up to you really, i went with a Nvidia 8800gt because it was great performance for the money, but if i get a new gfx card i will seriously consider an ATI because they are so much cheaper!
im using nvidia 8600
ATI for lots of reasons -
1. Price/Performance ratio.
2. ATI takes up less power under load.
3. Crossfire is far more advanced than SLI.
There is one more reason to go with ATI except for performance/price ratio and it's supporting the underdog. Thanks to competition we are capable today to get high end cards in fracture of the cost it was once...
Nvidia only really appeals to Nvidia fanboys or people who haven't done their research with GPUs & GRAM.
Anyone who has done research will know that ATI are identical (If not better) to Nvidia in the latest technologies. ATI price their cards cheaper for the same & sometimes more power.
Nvidia spend their money flooding the gaming market with annoying adverts & bribing PC hardware reviewers to say they are better.
I have had a lot of cards, both ATI & Nvidia. ATI have always worked without a hitch on all my OSs. Nvidia only worked on XP. My Linux distros were forced to use VESA because Nvidia wouldn't support anybody but Windows.
ATI win this without a doubt. :)
