Lol of course they are! Ati releases drivers for linux distros. Anyways drivers off ati's official site have some issues with arch's pacman, but the guys @ arch have resolved this issue. So all you have to do is grab "xorg-server" and "catalyst" using arch's pacman, configure xorg.conf and aticonfig it to suit your needs. After all that you're good to go to setup your favorite windowing system :P

ATI is much better than Nvidia. Nvidia has no chance.

as far as drivers are concerned imo ati is worse off than nvidia. But if you look at 4870 and the problems with nvidia mobility gpus i think ati is better off..

i have a nvidia so for me nvidia is better

I'm running NVIDIA now, but ATI makes good stuff.

l currently have a ati never had a problem with it looking to upgrade not sure what to get ati new HD 4870 2gb or sli 2 nivdia 280gtx's

after having 2 computers with ati graphics card I hated them! Now I own Nvidia and I notice a completely better difference. For me Nvidia all the way :)

Currently running ATI cards so you know what my decision is
