A drive that is A/V rated. These are intended for heavy duty use use in PVRs, DVRs, Tivos, etc.

There's really no compelling reason to go with a 7200rpm drive for storing torrents. I could be wrong, but I think access times are the main reason 7200+rpm drives are better, which isn't important at all with torrenting and storing/playing media. I would probably trust a lower RPM "green" drive over a performance drive for reliability, as less power and heat seem to be associated with a longer life when it comes to electronics.

    Update:

I thought I'd let you guys know that I got a Samsung EcoGreen F4 2TB (5400RPM) last week, and it's been great so far. uTorrent reports disk overloads. but that's to be expected downloading multiple 30+ GB torrents simultaneously. My WD Black did the same thing. I'm hoping this drive holds up as I fill it and use it constantly (it's already over half full with new content!)

ive trusted nothing but WD. I have a readynas that does all my torrenting and movie playing and its filled with greens and blacks. Great little chassis with great drives.

I have a handful of the samsung ecogreen F4 2TB drives in raid5 right now. If one fails, I can just power down the array, order another drive, stick it in, and rebuild. Then you don't lose your data or your wallet.

My next hard drive I want a WD. I've already used up my Maxtor 1Tb and I think I'm a little too hard on it. I hear WD is nice and simple without all that program stuff on it.

I have a 1Tb seagate HD though if I was granted to make a change now I will go for the WD as they provide direct home or the shop replacement in case if anything goes wrong. I am not a heavy torrenter so it satisfies my needs also as a backup of my work.
