    Default Ethics or Money ??

Hey Guys....here i am putting a General Question related to all of us !!

Qs. Is Money more important than our Ethical and Moral values ??

all of us know....that in our day to day life...we come across many situations where we need to choose one...either money or etics...

    - A policeman asking for Bribe....

    - Businessman doing wrong thing for his business to prosper...

    - People are more Selfish than ever before....

    - We just help, where we might get some profit....

    - What do you think while looking at poor guy injured in an accident...and would it be different if he is a billionaire....

there are alot of questions and situations like these.....where we need to choose one out of good and bad....better not to say good or bad.. as the definitions of these might vary from person to person....

so what do you think ??

Note : I want everyone to write, whatever your heart say....it dosen't matter what it is... ;-)

    Good for ALL !!

    Added after a little discussion....

    Hey hey hey Everybody....

ALL of you Guys are talking of EXTREMES situations where you have one one option.....and that way it depends on SITUATION ONLY !!

But i started the poll with General situations in mind......where you have Both options OPEN, and they does not make alot difference if you choose another....

Eg. If a shopkeeper is left with last mobile to sell....and someone reserved it before you....BUT you can give some extra money to the shopkeeper and take the mobile and you don't need to wait any longer....!!
here you can be shopkeeper also.....as he also have a decision to take....( although this decision is not taking aways his life, as most of you were talking about )

Hope you got my point.... ;-)

Every situation is unique, this is one of those 'How long is a piece of string questions?'

For example would you kill someone for $10 - probably not, would you lie for a $1,000,000 - probably.

Ok suppose you knew the lie would result in the death of someone. Perhaps you wouldn't take the money in that case, or maybe you would if you knew the person who would die as a result of the lie, was a murdering socio-path himself.

Perhaps if the person had killed someone you loved you would pay for the opportunity to kill them.

We are all prepared to bend our principles, given the right circumstances and the right price (not necessarily money), and if you say you are not, you are lying to yourself.

Like Arakasi says its all down to the situation.. Every man has a price?

If anyone has watched The Box quite a recent movie it has this exact dilemma. Press this button and you will receive $1million but someone you dont know will die, do you press that button?

I agree with this. It's all a matter of perspective and differs with the situation and circumstances you are finding yourself in.

Great comment Arakasi, very well put! I couldn't have described my opinion on this matter any better.

The question that has to be clarified first is which values to follow is favorable to be "good". The polititians for example definitely follow different ones than businessmen do, but which ones are more ethical?

Personally for me, my wallet will have plenty of chances to grow with out taking advantage of people, and I then there's the question, would you steal bread to feed your family? Trick question, the bread is poisoned :)

They say money cant buy happiness. But it sure can prevent alot of unhappiness. You dont even have to involve death in the equation. what would you do if you saw somone drop their wallet? No problem for me. i would definately get that person's attention and return it. Now what would you do if you seen an armoured car lose a bag of money?? to be honest, that would be tough for me. i think i would take the money.
Its hard sometimes to tell what you would do in a situation, unless it really happens to you. we can say all we want, what we think we would do. But until that situation happens to us, we really dont know.
having a million dollors in cash in front of you, can be tempting. normal, hardworking people have made terrible decisions for alot less.
    soooo...if you drop your wallet in front of me, you'll get it back. you drop a million in front of me, well....:}

Like most I also think it depends entirely on the situation. Of course most of the time ethics wins over money but there's always a breaking point in which you can't let that amount of money slip away even if you think what you're doing is wrong.

The poll at the moment shows nobody has voted for money. Is everybody really that generous? I guess this really is a giving community.

This isn't an ethical decision it is a business decision. For the customer, it is a question of the value of having the phone immediately versus the additional cost, and for the shop keeper it is a question of whether the additional revenue, is worth the potential loss of future business with the person who reserved the phone.
