The debate has been going on for centuries, it seems, but from a completely objective standpoint, I say that Internet Explorer is better for as long as the price is not included in the overall score.

I have always used IE, but I am not one of those people who refuse to try something new. It is a shame, therefore, that my experiences with Firefox were disappointing. The first lack in function that I noticed was that there was no easy way to sort the bookmarks. I had to go into a menu and find a hidden-away button, and then I could sort my mookmarks.

The second, and more crucial, point is that the standard download manager makes files corrupt. When I tried downloading the same file with IE, it worked fine.

The third problem is the lack of compatibility. I am using MSI's Live Update to update my system drivers, and it requires me to accept a narrow ActiveX pop-up at the top of the browser. That pop-up does not appear in FF, so I get stuck there.

Lastly, FF's strength is its greatest weakness. The Firefox Add-ons page may well be able to fix some of the mentioned errors, but all this updating is a problem is disguise. Instead of seeing it as a means for extending FF, I see FF as an unfinished browser which requires extra attention after installation. For example, what happens when you update FF? Are you required to find and download the updated versions of the add-ons as well, or will they update automatically? What if there is no new version? Will there be problems? I also noticed that there are newer versions on the developers' websites than the ones offered at the add-ons page, so I do not see much use in the add-ons page.

All in all, it comes down to if you see Firefox as a glass half full or half empty. However, as I said, IE is not free, so taking that into account, Firefox is well worth it if there is no other choice.
