    You use pemdas

    parentheses (9+3)
    9+3 = 12

    Divide 48 / 2
    48/2 = 24

    times.
    24x12 = 288

    48÷2(9+3)

    Follow the mathematical rule of PEMDAS. Parenthesis, exponent, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.

    48 / 2 (12)
    48 / 24
    = 2.

    I accidentally put 2

    but it's 288 for sure let me explain!

    48÷2(9+3)

    Brackets first!

    48
    ÷2(12)

    which is actually

    48
    ÷2X12

    then you go by order

    48
    ÷2= 24

    24X12=288

    yeah its 288. you first do the brackets (9+3 = 12). then from left to right ----> 48 /2 = 24. 24 * 12 = 288

    ^^ those are the PEMDAS rules.

    lol after looking at the results, this is kinda sad. you can just google the answer too.

    its simple...BODMAS - Bracket Operation Division Multiplication Addition Subtraction :
    48÷2(9+3):
    1. solving the bracket: 9+3=12
    2. doing the operation= 2(12)= 24
    3. division: 48÷24= 2

    now what the people are doing (who get the answer as 288)...they are doing this:
    parenthesis- (9+3)= (12)
    then since its 2(12) now...and that is equal to 2x12...so they assume the equation as this: 48÷2x12 and then since division comes first they do 12x12=288....now the mistake in this is that they forget about the parenthesis after doing 9+3....ie though the 2(12) does means 2x12...but it does not mean that now they can do 48÷2 first !

    2(12) is written by us for our convenience as 2x12...it wasn't given in the question!! so we have to do 2(12) first and then we touch the 48!

    ok in a summary:
    if the question would have been 48÷2x12 then the answer is definitely 288 but if the question is 48÷2(12) then the answer is 2 and never 288....that's convention...seriously

    we can write 2(12) as 2x12 but that never changes the order in which you perform the operation which you were to perform in the first place!!....

    The order of operations, or precedence, used in mathematics and many programming languages is expressed here:
    terms inside parentheses or brackets
    exponents and roots
    multiplication and division As they appear left to right
    addition and subtraction As they appear left to right
