I think I've played pretty much every MMO out there lol
Ever Quest
Horizons
Dark Ages of Cam
Asheron's Call
Lord of the rings
World of Warcraft
Shadowbane
I think my favorite one still so far is Asheron's Call.

Mine was maple story. It's a 2D game and invited more hackers to come in. I haven't played it for a long time. But I liked it because it's 2D. The characters are cute even if people say it's childish. I don't know if my account is still alive though.
EverQuest has been my all time favorite, hands down. I grew up playing it starting when I was 10 years old (in 2000) and around 06-07 I quit and then continued to play off and on every couple of months. I've played a few other MMO's but none of them will ever have felt the way EverQuest did in its prime. It was a living breathing world that was active 24/7. I remember back in the day when I could log on and play any time any where with any lvl character and there was always something to do and someone to hang out with etc. It almost makes me wanna cry to think that the game is in the condition it is in now, a ghost town with the only active players left being the hardcore raiders and even then most of the raiders are only online during raid time for the most part. : (
+1 for WoW. Nothing compares at all. I've played some PC only MMOs and they're just not up to par. They all seem like they should be browser based, with the exception of Florensia, which is a good game. I'm limited in what MMOs I play on OSX but WoW is enough for me.
WoW tbh tried other mmo's but never liked them. Clean from WoW for 4 years!
Star Wars Galaxies before SOE tried to turn it into a WoW clone, aka NGE. Excellent community back then. Now, not so much.
Ultima Online hands down. Having also played pretty much everything that has been released, nothing at all ever compares to UO. Amazing world that felt absolutely alive.... houses that made an impact on the world, adventuring that was actually scary (both due to other players and monsters), hugely epiccly fun little skirmishes, castle raids, everything. Great and in-depth crafting and skill system. Damn. I loved that game. I can't really do justice to it writing on a phone but the fact that my partner lets out a massive sign whenever I even make vague mention of it just goes to show how nostalgic about it I get sometimes, heh.
Other than that.... also have very fond memories of the original EQ.... back when MMOs were challenging and exciting... and I suppose also have praise to give to WoW purely due to the extreme amounts of polish.
Asherons call Darktide PVP server from around 99-01 greatest gaming experience of my entire life.. and i dont think ill ever come close to it again....
