Thread: PSJ Jailbreak

Okay guy's. Lol. I havent had much time on my hands lately. I havent really followed the scene. From what I know the original maker got court ordered to stop selling them. Also their has been 3 clones. I cant remeber them off the bat. Also their has been emulators from droid, iphones, and calculators to emulate the service mode exploit. From my understanding, their is NO WAY to use a regular memory stick. Also their is homebrew blank chips which you can flash the homebrew version of PSJaiblreak onto it and make it work. From what I also understand is that 1.42 firmware doesn't work.

Okay, I need some help. Lol. I usually offer help to guys in video games as I am so called labeled a video game freak. Lol. But time has put a stop on me researching.

What I need is your opinion on your best route. I dont wanna go with iPhone and Droid apps, cuz I need my phone working, and be gaming cuz I assume it wont work as a phone in that state. I dont want to use a calculator to do it. So it leaves me with the homebrew blank usb flash chips, and the 3 clones.

Which would be the best out of them? I assume they are quite similar with the same chip in them. I also would like to know if you purchasd them from what site, and is reliable? Could you post links! Thanks!

Well there are probably over 20+ clones out by now. As far as your phone goes for my android phone at least.. you flash over a kernel in order to boot your ps3 and your phone will still work but for my android my wifi doesnt work and it wont charge being plugged into a usb port.. but the phone itself still works fine. after the ps3 is booted up you can unplug it. good references, Lowkee. I've been following those sites since the announcement of psgroove.

There literally is 20+ clones, but the main hits are ps3key and ps3break. Both go for about 30-50 dollars depending on the distributor.

PS3key also has a 'open firmware' version called AVRkey. Its sold as a dev board probably to avoid legal issues, but we all know what it was really designed for.

Originally there was three actual dev boards that were targeted for psgroove, the at90usbkey, teensy and teensy++. All of which sold out within a couple days after the release of psgroove, and all other compatible board thereafter.

Now theres the minimus usb and the maximus avr usb dev boards that are specifically designed for psgroove. I have the latter, got it from wayayeo.net. It has a pretty nice build and looks cool too ha.

I say go with one of these board over the clones. You get the cool factor of a diy dongle and are first to get updates straight from the community.

Isay definately go for a flashable board solution. there may be an added step but you get more sport out of them from the open community.

if u have an old iphone or ipod 1g-5.5g u could run psgroove through rockbox

Rockbox doesn't work on the iPhones, however there is a PSFreedom release specifically for iPhones.

This release requires the iPhone 2G, 3G, an old Bootrom 3Gs, or the iPod Touch 1st or 2nd gen.

I am using this solution while I wait on MuscleNerd's announced PSFreedom-based iOS App as it doesn't require rebooting to use. A nice feature considering that any time the PS3 reboots or crashes (quite a bit under the current PSFreedom release), you can just open an app instead of waiting for a minute for your phone to boot into Android.

The Rockbox solution is very nice for users who already have Rockbox as it is pretty much instantaneous. However, I personally have a Teensy+ and PS3Key on order.

the jailbreak can be done too with a nokia n900, a guy name KaKaRoTo made it, but seriously talking you will be banned from the online :/, and that takes a lot of fun from games if you wanna play pirate copies better go with the xbox 360, is just an opinion.

Just to clear things up, no one has yet to get their ps3 banned. It also isn't likely to get banned now if you jailbreak because you wouldn't be able to access PSN anyway.

Borrowing my friend's TI-84 calculator tommorow to jailbreak my PS3 :D.
