Thread: Final Fantasy 13 Worth Playing?

I played ~3 hour of the game a few weeks ago and found it to be just boring! My friends rant and rave about it, but I wasn't overly impressed by the gameplay, storyline (I was lost for the whole 3 hours), or script - whereas the WHOAAAFLASHY Japanese graphics were top-notch. The script was even so bad as to have one of the main characters harp on ad nauseam about his own heroism every time character dialog popped up. Does the game pick up later to actually live up to the franchise? Final Fantasies 7, 8, and 10 were the only ones that I really enjoyed... the others were sort of bland to me.

But anyway, I want your thoughts and opinions on the game. I don't have my Xbox hooked up right now, but if the game was worth it I'd buy the game and take the Xbox out of storage.

You should really stick with it. When all the party members come together and you unlock all the Paradigms and classes, then it gets really good.

It was not what I was expecting it. The game is good and fun but it's not a FINAL FANTASY to play untill my eyes pop.
The bad thing is that the game is not open world style, it's very linear. The story is a bit confusing, and untill the middle of the game you won't understand a thing. The game is HUGE HUGE with great cinematic scenes with great world graphics, that you make you spend much of the time trying to tell what's CG and what's run-time processes.
They could have done better, but it's a good experience.

I havent played ff13 yet cause i do not have a ps3 but i have seen my friends playing it and i do not find it any bit boring.. square enix produces top-notch games and interesting story plots.

OP, I highly suggest that you continue to play the game. 3 hours is HARDLY any time to properly judge the game. For the first 5 hours or so, the game continues in the same fashion, but slowly becomes better. In every game you come to a point where you feel like stopping, just push passed it :).

I agree that the story isn't amazing. It's a linear game yes. But the game really shines in the combat and graphics. Just like Final Fantasy X-2, where I didn't really enjoy the "Charles Angel's" approach, the combat system was fresh and engaging.

It's sad though that everything went into making the graphics top notch. Making everything all glittery even for the smallest things spoils the mood.

It worth trying, esspecialy if you like this type of games.

I would say yes its worth playing but only for the grind. There is no story or open world for you to explore which is a stray away fro mthe classics. This game was called the biggest disappointment in gaming history, but I wouldnt go that far. IOts like an m n. shamalayan movie you get the good with the bad.
