+1 for this, not number 1 but definitely in my top 10. Also Skies of Arcadia is my favorite rpg of all time. I know it's not a hack n slash but it's amazing. If you have a dreamcast (or emulator I suppose) or a gamecube you should definitely look into it.

I'm an RPGer, and my favorite single player game ever is still Deus Ex. Its not 100% your standard RPG (you move through it like an FPS and the upgrades / talent / leveling choices aren't as fast paced as say Diablo), but the story and immersion are great. There's a sequel that was pretty good too but I preferred the first one.

I love fallout 3 for an RPG, Me2 and Dragon age are also too good!!

I am in another country at the moment, so am unable to download and play these:

They are MMORPG's, and have gone FREE.

- Lord Of The Rings Online

If you are into the MMO part, that is. I think that my first choice will be LOTRO when I get home in a couple of weeks. Been reading up on the classes and watching a few videos, and now that it is free to play, I will definitely be giving that a go!

alpha protocol is a new good game thats a single RPG, i think you can get it on all platforms aswell.

i don't know if you would agree with me, but somehow, FallOut 3 is the best RPG that i have played because of the integrated FPS elements.

I thing Dragon Age is the best!
