Thread: Final Fantasy XIV, anyone?

The alpha is about to start and we are seeing a whole lot of info come out for this game. Anyone planning on playing it?
I played XI for a while, major grind/time-sink there, though it was pretty fun. XIV looks to be less of both which is good seeing as I've actually got a life to attend to. The official site should be updated soon but I've been going to ffxivCore for info.

I'm excited about this new sequel too but I prefer waiting until beta close

I signed up for a beta key, but no luck so far. I never tried FFXI but my friends convinced me to try FFXIV so I'm hoping to get a key.

They are looking at a 6mo beta. Seeing as the focus is going to be less on pt play I think it's a great opportunity to get ahead before the floodgates open. As soon as the ps3 beta signups come up I'm on that. New stuff out on ffxiv core and the NA official site today.

yep, anxiously waiting, played FFXI for a couple of years then AoC, and never got into WoW... Although I'm hoping it wouldn't be too party oriented (sometimes spending hours just looking for a party...) and a grind fest like XI...

Oh people are saying so much about this game, I hope it really delivers.The videos and pictures and stuff are really nice, I'd like very much to try it out.

This is easily my most anticipated MMORPG... Loved FFXI, quit eventually due to it being a major time-sink, but the community I was in was great and I actually enjoyed the fact that you needed to group in order to grind levels. There were so many good features of XI that I hope they take into XIV...

Haven't gotten into the closed beta :/ Apparently it's being released this year, here's hoping... ^^

You know, when I first saw this thread I thought it was a typo, but after looking into it, I got really excited!

Knowing Square Enix, it'll probably have a monthly fee to play. I didn't really get into XI because of that (plus, I didn't want to grind for months on end).

I'm actually intrigued that it'll be out on the PS3, though. The website has icons for the PS3 and PC, so maybe there won't be a fee? Only time will tell, I suppose.

And why so close to FFXIII (not that I'm complaining or anything)? Anyway, if there are no fees connected to the PC version, I'm sure I'll end up picking it up.

Lol, I can tell you now that there will definitely be fees seeing as it's an MMORPG... It'll run independantly of XIII and XV and has been in development for many years already.

XI was indeed a grinder and I wouldn't expect anything less from XIV, however they are making some major modifications ot the style of the gameplay so you can expect to see some features from XI that have been improved or completely new features that other MMORPG's haven't thought of yet. Whether or not the game is a complete grind remains to be seen, however I've read that this is one of the things they're trying to improve when compared to XI :)

The graphics are looking pretty amazing already, especially considering it's alpha (or isit already beta?)-status. The stat-class system looks to be amazing aswell (I already liked XI's alot with the main/sub-class system ^^) so that's a feature I'm seriously anticipating...

This is definitely gonna be my next big time-sink :D Looking forward to it already xD
