Default Assassins creed II: Assassinated by Ubisoft

So some lame brained twat in Ubisoft thought that it was a good idea to first send it without all the bells and whistles (no DX10 or 11)... Then to add insult to injury, they've implemented a new DRM scheme, which imposes it on you that you be online as long as you're running the game... "NO OFFLINE MODE?" Those self serving pompous, arrogant, ignorant sons of filthy whores... Don't they have enough sense to see how this may actually impede sales... for one, i don't have round the clock internet connection, i do, but then it gets horrendously expensive where i live, that is in India... There'll be so many more, who'll be pissed with this and may not buy the game out of spite... Spore for EA was going to be the game... it sold in its millions and was also pirated in its millions just as well... Some idiots will never learn...

The news of Ubisoft’s new DRM has raised a lot of questions, but now some got the chance to test it in action, and it’s just as we expected it to be – far from grand.

While Ubisoft claims that this move should address piracy issues, we’re not sure whether ridding users of offline playing mode is a wise thing, and we’re yet to see how effective it will be in fighting piracy.

So, those lacking internet connection can thus wave goodbye to the games that will use this DRM, whereas those with connectivity issues such as occasional drops better stock up on tranquilizers, because they’ll probably need them

The reason is simple – a connection drop due to your provider, lousy cable or a server drop will leave you with a screen (that you’ll probably grow to hate pretty quick) offer a choice of saving your last checkpoint and quitting to Windows. All your progress since the checkpoint will be lost and we’re wondering why customers should be inconvenienced this way as Ubisoft war on pirates is not what they paid for. Talk about customer service.

Companies wonder why there's so much piracy, it's because the pirated versions are more functional than the ones they're selling.

I wonder if they'll figure that out.

LoL that's funny, especially since this is a single player game w/ no multi-player mode whatsoever. Well you could always buy an Xbox and play AC2 offline on that. Hmm... could this have been the plan all along? Maybe Micro$oft is gave Ubi$oft some kind of kickback in the hopes that it spurs 360 sales! Nah, that's too far fetched... OR IS IT ? !

Yes, a little far fetched... since it is a 'The Way It Is "Not" Meant To Be Played' game, i'm more than certain that Nvidia wouldn't want to miss upon... Even the last version was quickly crippled to hobble on Dx10, once it became clear that it was only ATI which supported it. So no DX10 or 11 points a finger towards Nvidia, well once a thieving scoundrel, always a suspect...

About having to be online all the time you're playing it is a bit retarded on their part. In most of the developing world, having an internet connection is still somewhat of a privilege.

That is really the wrong way to go about it honestly... DRM is really a stupid idea, you end up hurting paying customers more than pirates. Pirating takes away most of the headaches. The correct way to go about it is to give incentives to purchasers, like additional content or "the big one" online modes. Rather co-op, or whatever. Sure multiplayer won't always work, incentives are the direction they should want to do rather than punishment.

Now EA has crippled it... It is like a 3 legged puppy now, which is cute, but all you feel is sorry for its state/ condition...

Yeah they are trying so hard to fight the piracy that they make you want to crack the game even more ...

Is there a reason a crack wouldn't work? It's a real bummer that the retail version is so gimped, but surely there's a programmer clever enough to fix the problem. Personally I wouldn't buy the game unless I saw a good crack that fixes all these issues.
