you can try using this site Xbox 360 DVD Drive Database it should help you identify the drive.
all the info you need should be on the box and you want to look out for the team I.D and lot #
those are the most important, try and match them to one you find in the store and this should
help you avoid the lite-on. the older the better the chance it wont be the lite-on. but I hope this
helps you.
What seems to be the problem? It seems relatively simple if you read the guides right. I have done a couple of dozen boxes myself, and came across 1 that I could'nt do. As of know it's the lite-on with the new motherboard, Anything after august or september i think. Samsung, Benq, and Lite-On almost uses the same technique. U will need a pci to sata card with via 6421 chipset. Hitachi are alittle different, but are able to be flashed with sata motherboard via , firmware toolbox. Gotta get them in mode B. Also you have to get the key from the drive first, before u start flashing anything, or you'll be without an xbox, cuz u cant just put any other drive in their. Kind of like a lock of motherboard and dvd drive. Burning games are really easy, you can do yourself. I recomend Verbabim DL made from singapore. Singapore, makes a different and very good disc. Expensive though. Use img burn and burn the dvd file, or use xbox backup creator. Alway's use ixtreme firmware, but due to recent ban's, it's really unclear if it is stealth firmware, or something else. I would hold off a bit, till new firmware kicks in. If you need any help, pm I'll help with what ever i can also.
Pretty sure I just bricked my hitachi :( Everything was going well and then Jungle Flasher froze, after a while it came back as unsuccessful and then my 360 drive stopped working and the power light stayed flashing.
Apparently I was not as skilled as I thought. C'est la vie
At what point did it fail? were you writing the firmware to the drive when it failed?
and have you tested yet it to make sure it can still play games?
It had just completed a succesful stabilty check and started the firmware procces when it became non responsive.
I have not checked if it can still play legit games, I gotta pull the drive open manually. Honestly I just kinda assumed it wouldn't, but I guess it's silly for me not to check.
question. when doing the whole dumping and writing process, did you happen to use the 59/58 drive revision? im just checking because your drive might be a 79/78 it should say the version number somewhere on the label on the drive.

did you happen to have your video cable attached to the 360 while flashing? this is also important to keep it from turning off during flashing
