    Default Final Fantasy Tactics

This has gotta be one of the best, if not the best playstation 1 games you can get your grubby meathooks on. I'm not much into rpg's but when I got into this game I might as well have been johnny rpg'er.

The best aspect of this game is the job system, where you are flooded with choices and customizations you can make for all your characters.
It's like living your childhood over and going to toy's r us for the first time again.

My two favorite job types you can play as are ninja, and wizard.
Need I say more, you can play as a damn ninja.

The story line takes place in the future, in a land known as Ivalice.
Ironically, the setting looks like it is taking place in the past, during medieval times, with kings and knights.
The kicker is that, civilization must have been destroyed, and it started all over again. Signs of this appear in Goug Machine City, which is filled with loads of broken machinery and shrap metal. Most of the people in Ivalice have no idea what machines are and are puzzled by it.

The game keeps you well immersed with the deep storyline and countless customizations and jobs you can tweak on. You can easily put 30 hours in and still have plenty of gameplay left.
The replay value is high as well, as you just get the itch to possess that perfect badass character.

So if you haven't played this game yet for some odd reason, make it your duty to.

Yes, this was one of my favorites especially since I was extremely into turn-based strategy then. Like you've stated, there are hours of gameplay behind this title. I've easily put over 100 hours into it. Mainly upping my characters status and doing a ton of side quests. I also got into other turn-based because of FF Tactics. It followed through to PS2 where I tried other titles like Disgaea.

I played it for a little bit and I loved what I saw, its just that the FF series (number) always takes precedence in my heart to Tactics. Tactics for some reason felt like a great game to play but just not very FInal Fantasy. Nothing will ever replace FF VII or VIII for me (I know i know people say VIII sucked but thats the first one I played) I will make sure to get an emulator and try to play through tactics again know that I know what to expect.

My god. Finally a thread about the best FF ever made. The challenge of the game is INSANE. The story is top shelf and the gameplay is one that is steep for your novice player, but addicting to those who grasp it.

Many try and emulate it, but you wont find another like it. Take the nostalgia glasses off with the other FFs. This masterpiece stands the test of time.

It isn't nostalgia glasses. I played FF VI (at least I think thats what it is the numbering gets confusing between the Japanese and US releases) and I loved it as well and that is the last one that I played. I sincerely disliked XII as it was nothing like the others but I am keeping an open mind towards the XIII although it isn't going to be in the classic style. But anyway thanks for the recommendation and I'm going to get it

FFVI is 6 in Japan / 3 in US
It's the one with Locke, Edgar, Terra, etc etc. with the main story based on Magicite and Kefka.

On topic, I highly reccomend FFT to any turn based RPG lovers.

Yeah that is the one I'm talkin about. Loved it. Kefka was crazy... they should make a remake of it with modern graphics, same goes for VII, proper remake not Advent Children BS.

I do apologize for sort of hijacking the thread blasto43 but it was semi on topic.
I guess my point is that it being "grid" based is completely unexpected from a FF title at least for me. I might've been more accepting if it wasn't there

lol, feel free to talk about whatever u would like to neo, heck you can even Rick Roll me. I just wanted to make sure this game doesn't get lost in time and keep it fresh on peoples minds.

I am such a big fan of the game, that when I first heard about FFT:War of the lions, I immediately assumed it was a sequel. I did not look into it any further and for nearly 2 years I kept this game enclosed, as the idea of there being an actual sequel to the greatest game ever made, overwhelmed me, and I felt like I needed to savor the moment for a while before actually playing.

A point came where I could not wait any longer and I finally loaded it up only to realize it was a remake. Even with the high expectations of playing an actual sequel, playing the remake was still more than adequate enough. The greatest implementation to the war of the lions is of course the addition of multiplayer, and the two new job classes, the onion knight, and the death knight.
