Thread: My opinion on MW2 not supporting dedicated servers

Long time since last time I played a computer game with dedicated server. Nowadays I mostly play xbox live games with no dedicated servers. They often lags because I match up with ppl acros the sea.

I don't plan on getting this game precisely because of this. But, that said, I am willing to take a wait and see approach and if PC gamers with good taste find it playable or that it even has some advantages, then I'll try it out.

I very, very doubt they change it. There idiots for not doing so, therefore they'll loose a lot of money and fire the dumb shit that thought of peer to peer

honestly, i couldn't care less. COD4 was OK for what it was, a stupidish unrealistic fast FPS for kids.
now, exactly why make a sequel to that.. oh yeah, to have users have to upgrade their hardware and buy latest 'nvidia-how-its-meant-to-be-played' cards, instead of doing something smart in your life.. like, read a book...
anyway, cod by itself is a little bit sad game, try OFP and you'll know what i mean..

COD 4 was amazing and the MP was even better, i still play it sometimes.

I had such high hopes for MW2, so pissed off at the moment this was on my must have list.

The only reason i get FPS on PC rather than on my ps3 is because of dedicated servers (Though lets not forget the KB + Mouse). How the **** could IW do this, just to save some money.

This would have been one of the biggest game of the year. (Though still be a big success no matter how much (we) PC nerds whing, console games definately make more money than PC games no doubt about it but IW **** )

I might wait for reviews regardless and may consider getting if it holds up or pirate it lol:p. I needed to get that out (Now look for another FPS).

For implementing dedicated servers, unlikely but if the MP is abandoned in a month then IW may re consider.

I bought MW2 today, and I as much as I love the game, Match-Making is just a blow off. I hope they fix this, they also need to implement co-op campaign, that would make it much more fun as well.

Well too be honest I don't know what pings I'm getting. But, your connection can be seen as bars, just like on the console, the max you can have is 4 bars. I'm usually on 3-4 bars, but still then the servers themselves get random spikes. Although, when a big spike happens MW2 actually quickly starts looking for a new host on the same map, and when one is found you resume game play from the exact same place that you had been on the previous host.

Matchmaking isn't that great but I do notice as soon as you click "join game" you pretty much instantly join a server, which isn't to bad because it minimizes waiting times quite allot. I've also noticed that "Special-Ops" Is really laggy. In SO the game has random spikes all the time, and the other person I was playing with was experiencing much more lag than me as well.

And once again, we need multiplayer campaign, it would be so good.

EDIT: When looking for Host it says the Host has 100ms, so I believe my ping would be similar to that? maybe a bit worse?
