Thread: XBOX 720

Lets talk about the hype that the Microsoft Xbox 720 will bring when it reaches the shelves in the stores near you?

havent heard much about the new system please feel free to fill me in

iv heard a few things and will the kinect now xbox is moving foward nicely

I'm looking forward to what microsoft will bring to the table. We already know what nintendo is doing, but not the other two contenders yet. I've read that microsoft will be showing off their new hardware at this years E3, and also this will be the best move if they want something to compete with nintendo's Wii U which will most likely sale extremely well. Sony on the other hand has seen steady increasing sales and I don't expect them to show anything until microsoft shows their hand. You never know though, and It would be a welcome surprise if all three have new systems to show off.

I hope microsoft includes at least a 1TB harddrive, have full backwards compatibility, bluray or some kinda disc that will store at least 50GB, full media center compatibility with support for .mkv and flac files, support for 7.1 DTS MA, and Dolby TruHD, and of course the huge improvement in graphics which is seriously starting to lag behind PC.

Ive read a rumer a few weeks ago that microsoft might be thinking about doing something to prevent the 720 from playing preowned games,just a rumer though.

My guess is it will play blu-ray movies, but games may be in a proprietary disc format to prevent copying. Kinect will be improved, but may still be an optional accessory. The specs will be much better, but it is unclear what we would get from the additional power (I am hoping for real-time 3D).

As for used games, I imagine all console makers will just continue their slow march toward downloadable content, add-ons, etc and make used games increasingly unappealing.
