I had the same problem with C&C. Though thinking back, I don't really know what made it different from AoE or Starcraft. It just wasn't as likable for some reason.

To me it was they had no complexity. Starcarft and C&C had one resource. They were just about the fighting however AOE is more of a city building type thing were you have to develop and economy and such which makes it much slower

Yeah, you're totally right. I think what made the difference for me was that Starcraft had a lot of personality, but I never really got into C&C's story.

warcraft 3, but that's the only RTS game that i played semi-seriously.

Rome Total War

I had a lot of fun with oldschool C&C.

Other than that WC3 was the only one I really played.

Also LoL kind of falls into that category...

For RTS.
Command and Conquer start to rocks the world even it's not the first but be well known (and its series Red Alert * (1-2-3))
