    Default How to stream movies to PS3/XBOX?

    I just bought a PS3 last night, one of the reasons I got it was because I heard you can download movies and stream them right from your PC using the PS3. Even 720 and 1080 movies can be streamed with stuttering or lag. Is this all true? I can't find an updated set of directions on how to stream movies from my PC to PS3. I saw that you can use WMP, Nero MediaHome, Orb, TVersity, etc to do all this. I just need to know what is the best out there right now? I want be able so stream AVI, MKV, pretty much all of those high quality movies on torrent sites. I don't know if the PS3 can trancode movies or not. Like I said, all the diections I have found are from like 2007 and there so outdated and confusing. I need directions like your speaking to a baby, lol.

    Any help on what to do would be appreciated.

    Hello, yes u can. I have tried a few softwares, but the one who really worked good for me was PS3 Media Server. I could stream a few 720p videos without stuttering but all depends on the bitrate of the files. Probably with a decent computer (wich i don't have... ) and a fast network you can stream any 720p file without problem.

    I heard some people had some trouble configuring it, so if you need any help, I'll be glad to help.

    I use PS3 media server and I can stream 1080p movies to PS3 with a gigabit cable. There's not enough bandwidth on the wireless.

    I normally stick to 12g and under if I'm gonna stream it. Can't fast forward or pause though! Have to glue your ass to couch and watch it all.

    Nothing beats an htpc.
