anyone what ive read on forums that is there no way to backup any games unless your on 3.55/3.57 so 4.00 is a longs away and prob not realistic.

To be honest with you, I haven't followed the recent news since you can play games if you have a 3.55 CFW and a fix for each individual game. For the past year or so, there is no way to be able to log in PSN with a CFW (custom firmware) and that is what they are trying to fix although it seems close to impossible. There are ways to downgrade from an official firmware though and then use a custom one.

yah when i bought my ps3 recently i was already on 3.73 so i was out of luck. to downgrade to 3.55 dont you have to open up your ps3 and connect wires and such?

Hi m8 some of what u have been told is true some isnt its easy to mod the 360 but then comes the hard part u need to play your backed up games

and a lot of patience all this comes just to make a backup to actually mod your 360 i would stick with getting a phat 1 as the slims aint cheap to mod also i have compatable sata ports so all i bought was a ck3 and a probe 3 but do have a friend who purchased the 360lizard which in my opinion is 70gbp piece of crap and wouldnt advise any 1 getting 1 if u want a more detailed report on how exactly it is done then i would be happy to help
but u will really need to know what drive you r modding before buying anything, the ihas burner and verbatim disks are a must have for any xgd3 title to be backed up if u wanna play online if u are not bothered about going online then no need to buy the ihas burner i would still highly recommend verbatim and only the 1s made in singapore , hope this helps alittle theres tons more ppl out there more knowledgeable than me but i can and have modded every 360 i have owned not for copyright purposes but for backup as kids are destructive and i dont mind burning a disk but i do mind having to replace games at 40gbp a go lol

Oh, that's bad luck mate.. Its quite hard to downgrade from 3.73.. It requites soldering indeed.. The only easy way to use a CFW is if you have an OFW 3.55 max. If you still want to do it, you might find the following useful:

I believe that in the near future it will be available to downgrade much easier and I'm not losing hope for a CFW 4.0. Hope it helps

Your best bet is to trade your ps3 on craiglist for a downgraded/lower firmware.

Yeah the only way to downgrade 3.73 is solder, but i have 3.55.2 debug cfw on slim ps3. I don't download the new ones and am pretty patient so i have no problem waiting, if you don't you can get the True Blue dongle for 60 or something which lets you play the new ones (I beleive it emulates the peek and poke).

But right now have every emulator under the sun except n64, still waitin, and just about custum everything.

Also you can install linux on it and run a server which is pretty bada**.

I read an article saying that when sony released the ps3 with linux capabilities, componies were using those for their servers 'cause it was cheap and IBM lost sales and told sony to cut it out, so they did and thats what blew up the hacking/modding scene. People were pissed and you dont piss off linux users.

So is all the youtube videos about jaibreaking your 4.11 FW PS3 a load of bs? I d/l a few such applications through their links and all were connected to survey to that uncovers the password that never materialised. From comments and likes the posters seemed to be genuine.

Is there any realistic way to play the latest pirated games found on forums/torrent sites on a 4.11 PS3?
