Thread: Any love for MW 3?

Now I just want to ask what you guys think of the modern warfare 3 game now that so much footage has been showed recently. I understand the game hasn't changed much over the years, but I mean the formula has worked out pretty well so why change something if it aint broken? The company has taken almost every annoying thing from the last game out and me personally am very excited to see how it turns out. I'm not like a hardcore fan, but I just don't understand all the hate. People know what they're getting into when they buy a COD title yet they complain about the game play being the same. I know about Battlefield 3 and I am sure it's gonna be great, but beat COD? Cmon lets get realistic, that's not going to happen for at least 2 more years and by then I'm sure activision will find a way to improve the title.

Do you guys have any comments on this subject? Will you be buying the game?

I think battlefield had COD beat since the bad company series. It has one of the best multiplayer I've ever played. To be honest ever since modern warfare 2 I haven't played much COD online, the gameplay is really frustrating. In my opinion the only playable modes in COD games are search and destroy and hardcore. In Team Death Match you just have people running all over the map, and all your doing is following red dots on your map, etc. I'll probably pick up MW3 later just to wrap up the campaign, but I can't stand COD multiplayer anymore.

This is all just my opinion, and also feel like COD took a wrong turn and is just forced down peoples throats with yearly releases and that's why there's a lot of hate going around. Activision is known for milking franchises (guitar hero, tony hawk) and I think Infinity ward is a highly skilled developer that is starting to waste there time and skills with yearly releases. They should let COD die after this, or just let 3arc take over completely and work on a new IP and I know if they did, the new game would be game of the year.

MW3 looks Awesome, And I most probably will buy the game for the online play. Which it Being a CoD game should be top notch.

Learning curve is way too shallow for COD. Put 10 people who play COD into a CounterStrike game and I guarantee that none of them would be able to figure out how to play without resorting to Youtube.

At which point they would get distracted by the latest wall hack and all cheat.

Activision has tried to make the multiplayer better but the gameplay isn't more realistic like Battlefield Bad Company. I wouldn't say that the gameplay is bad since I have tried it out myself and kind of enjoyed it. I have heard about how Call of Duty will have the Elite membership which is thought to bring Activision more customers while providing them with map packs and possibly more weapons. I don't think I will buy this game because I believe Black Ops is enough.

I don't know I feel like they've fixed so many things such as taking away all the annoying killstreaks from the last MW, reinventing the whole killstreak rewards all together, prestiging will finally be worth something and although a cool feature the only thing I really like about elite is that all DLC's are free. It also plays on an enhanced engine from the last game so although similar the gameplay wont be exactly the same. One thing I've noticed is the increased recoil but I'm sure theres more to it. I guess my biggest reason for wanting this game is to play with friends. I'm sure they will all get it and thats enough for me to get it as well and the game is good just not very friendly to new players to the franchise.

My issue is not with what they added or removed, but with IW itself. There are always going to be balance issues and glitches in a game. What I look for in a developer is how they deal with those issues. IW has shown over and over again that they are merely satisfied with taking the consumer's money and running.

I mean look at the new DLC model. Sure buying the Elite package sounds great, but you pay $50 up front and if you're not satisfied, you have no way to get your money back.

Look at all the issues that MW2 had - Javelin glitch, care package glitch, and various elevator glitches took IW more than 2 months to fix. Balance problems - namely Slight of Hand sniping and One Man Army/Danger Close/Noob Tubes - haven't even been fixed. IW is an awful developer and though I will probably end up getting the game (all my friends will buy it), I have the lowest of the low expectations for it.

Overall,

MW series will always be a "arcade" game. They sacrifice many things that Battlefield 3 has in order to bring a thrilling high speed match, thus there is no lag and the game runs too damn smooth.

Battlefield Series will always aim to bring a different game play, more of a "realistic" feature. Rather than having a lone wolf soldier, it is a team effort that will lack in MW series. BF3 has made the distinctive four classes in terms of playing as the lone wolf or as a team, but will also have squad death match

Both Games cannot be compared due to their marginal differences, and MW has zombies and BF3 has massive map modes with vehicles and the environment is destructible. Plus BF3 servers list has been hacked, and I have seen one server size hit up to 128 people, total mayhem and lag.

One thing to compare is the storyline, bottom line. BF3 has a very long story line and I hope MW3 has one too, because they both will be too sick.
